Then and now

It was as early as the days when I used to catch frogs, newts and ringed snakes that my interest in the world under water surfaced. How ardently did I want to see what frogs and fish could see!
That mysterious underwater world pulled me into the deep, as it were, and with goggles I fabricated from a car's inner tube, a pane of glass from the decorator, and a bent electricity pipe by way of a snorkel I made my first snorkel dive in the Waddenzee in the early 1950s. A gigantic thornback was floating into the misty distance amidst the green laver.

Now, more the 50 years later, I am still addicted to that underwater world and keep feeling that indomitable passion to capture all this beauty in my lens.
